San Remo troubles

Not the best poker-trip ever.
1) 200 euro taxi-ride to San Remo from Nice as the trains were on strike.
2) Checked into our hotel where according to the booking agent EPThotels I was confirmed 12 days ago for a Junior Suite. We get to the room. Blatantly not a suite. Complain and find out that the manager let epthotels know at time of booking that no suites were available. So we end up in a tiny double room at a cost of only 20 euros a night less than we were supposed to pay for the suite. Because EPThotels didn’t bother to contact us there was no real alternative but to stay here as almost everywhere else was booked up. And because we’re getting a “cheaper” room there’s almost zero chance of getting refunds. Sigh. Not as bad as happened to our friends tho who turned up at there hotel after booking over the telephone with epthotels to find they’d never heard of him. After 30 minutes waiting in the the lobby for the agent to get back to him hes offered a room in the only place they have left at over double the cost. Nice. Epthotels was a nice idea, but we won’t ever be using them again.
3) Weather is meh.
4) Busted EPT main event on day 1 just after antes when AA no good.
So stuck in an overpriced room for 6 extra nights in a vacation spot I would never voluntarily choose while the weather is meh. Sweet life imo.
Oh and add to that the increasingly likely event that we won’t even be able to fly home thursday morning like planned due to the volcanic ash closing airspace. And if the flight is cancelled we probably won’t be able to get home for at least another week after that with the backlog of “rebookers”. I guess we head to Rome or Palermo or somewhere south and warm if we have to, but I’m longing for my cardiff apartment.
